Discoveries from the Report

LRN found that high-performing ethics and compliance programs have the following characteristics in common:

VALUES-BASED

Values-based E&C programs are substantially more effective at promoting ethical behavior than those programs focused principally on processes and rules.

FOCUSED ON ETHICS

Companies that consciously try to foster ethical behavior among managers and employees are more effective at meeting the DOJ’s compliance criteria.

ACCOUNTABLE & TRANSPARENT

High-performing programs embrace accountability and transparency, even hold senior leaders accountable for their actions.

The central challenge for E&C professionals and their leaders is how to operationalize ethics, elevate organizational character and, most importantly, improve employee behavior.
